One of their major services is to provide safe, respectable and durable building quarters for the thousands of migrants who are willing to have a better life than before. In the Baja area, hundreds of families are migrants, leaving Guatemala, Chile, Haiti and the South for economic reasons or for better, for survival. For example, the migrants from Haiti do not want to stay in that area due to political instability and frequent natural disasters in 2010, which has led 1000+ migrants to believe that they could have a better life outside a place like Mexico. Keeping in mind all these points, Baja Bound, the non-profit organization, has come up to help the migrants by providing them homes that will be durable and protect them from any storm or rain.
As per the NGO, when the migrants will have a home to stay in with a strong build, there will be no chance of burgling or stealing things from random people. In addition, the homes will protect the inhabitants from rain and other natural calamities, and also, when they are asleep, no one will fall sick outside.
Common Problems Faced By the Migrants
They lack the proper houses where they can stay for the time when they migrate from one place to another. As they are not getting shelter, the spreading of diseases also increases among them. The kids are not getting enough food and proper education. They have shared bathrooms and shower facilities, and they are being used by hundreds of people and no bucket or small well in the ground. In such places, sanitation is a big deal, and children lack proper sanitation, and they do not grow up to be healthy human beings.
Considering all these, Baja Bound has come up with easy solutions. They are making houses for the migrants in the Baja region, providing them with proper food and sanitation facilities. They are also encouraging them to education and change in lifestyle. Furthermore, the team provides the migrants with drywalls and solar panels so as not to have to pay monthly electricity bills and have a constant water supply and tank beside the houses. The solar power and water supply are the game changers!
